Taking Stock (pt 4)

1 2 Making: deep dark gingerbread waffles and they are AMAZING
Eating: the best grapefruit ever that John got at work for Christmas and insists he doesn't want
Drinking: mostly water from my Yeti (best thing ever, it keeps my water ice cold from morning until night)
Reading: The Woman on the Orient Express and so far I'm really liking it
Wanting: this freezing rain to turn into snow. Nobody likes cold rain, seriously
Looking: at pictures of my baby (all day every day #momlife)
Wishing: my gifts would magically wrap themselves. Am I the only one that hates wrapping presents?
Enjoying: the giggles Everett is giving us occasionally these days
Waiting: for Christmas to be here in TWO MORE DAYS
Dreaming: about our upcoming Andersen Family Reunion in Lake Powell next summer. Everett has the cutest teeny-tiny lifejacket (which was of course gifted to him by my parents at my baby shower because summer=Lake Powell)
Liking: that the pants I bought a month after having a baby are basically falling off me at this point. FINALLY I'M SHRINKING. Unfortunately there's still quite a bit to go
Wondering: why Everett has decided he can only sleep for two hours at night before he needs to eat?
Loving: the new floors John's been installing in our kitchen and living room (so so pretty and SO much better than our old orange-y laminate)
Hoping: we can squeeze in a few more Christmas movies before Sunday
Marveling: that it was one year ago next week that we discovered we were having a baby
Needing: to finish our 2016 Coles Family Album
Smelling: fresh Christmas tree + cinnamon wall plug-in (a throwback to last year but it's still true)
Wearing: scarves! boots! aka all the good stuff
Noticing: that my wedding ring fits well again. Swollen pregnancy fingers, I don't miss you
Thinking: Kindle Unlimited is the greatest thing to happen to me this month
Feeling: all-around, perfect contentment
Bookmarking: all the kitchens . . . kitchen facelift, I hope you aren't too far away

Taking stock (pt 3)

1
Here we are again, mostly because I've been neglecting this little blog so I thought I'd at least post an update on us.

Making: the most of the time between when my sister got home from her mission and when she leaves for college again (luckily we have until August)
Cooking: chicken pot pie (John loves it)
Reading: my pregnancy app and literally nothing else. Baby is now the size of a sweet potato
Wanting: next week to come quicker because we're finding out the gender!
Looking: for a bridesmaid dress for next month
Wishing: that watermelon and peaches would hurry up and come into season
Enjoying: Blindspot on NBC. Had to find something to replace White Collar
Waiting: for my husband to have time to fix my car. I guess at least walking everywhere is good exercise.
Dreaming: way too much. I never remembered my dreams before I was pregnant and now I have at least one weird dream per night
Liking: that I don't feel like death in the mornings anymore
Wondering: where we'll go to celebrate our two year anniversary in just a couple months
Loving: that today I wore a dress and flip flops and didn't feel cold
Hoping: to get a little more into photography this year, especially now that I have a 5d Mark II to play with
Marveling: that John still brings up Stockton (semi-seriously; I can't do it because he wants to name our child after a basketball player) and DeMarcus (just to annoy me) when we discuss boy names
Needing: snacks. Always
Smelling: all the smells (and they're finally not making me sick anymore)
Wearing: some maternity, some loose clothing. Definitely maternity pants. I just couldn't handle rubber-banding my regular jeans anymore
Noticing: that our front yard could really use some work
Thinking: about our Disneyland trip next month! (I'm going to have so much fun sitting around while everyone else rides the roller coasters I can't . . .)
Feeling: relieved that I'm finished with the wedding announcements I've been working on for a few weeks now
Bookmarking: any recipes that involve grilling. We were lucky enough to get my parents' old (but still new and very nice, just replaced by a Traeger) grill and I can't wait to use it!

Taking stock (pt 2)

It's been a while since my last taking stock post, so here we go again.
tree tree
Making: homemade sourdough bread once a week now because I love it so much
Cooking: nothing! John made his ultra-authentic-super-delicious tacos and I didn’t have to do anything except cut the steak. #besthusbandaward
Drinking: s’mores hot chocolate since my husband says you CANNOT decorate a Christmas tree sans hot chocolate
Reading: Library of Souls (the third book in the Miss Peregrine series. Definitely a guilty pleasure but every now and then you need a dose of young adult fiction)
Wanting: this stubborn cold that’s been hanging on for a week+ to go away
Looking: at my brand new Kindle Fire (my company gave out good bonuses this year)
Wishing: that I could find the star for our tree . . . hmm . . .
Enjoying: the fact that my husband decided the basement family room was his to decorate so he’s been building shelves and media centers and painting and installing light fixtures and searching Etsy for throw pillows (and it now is leaning towards man cave status but I surprisingly love it). Dark walls for the win
Waiting: for the homemade brie I have maturing on a shelf in the garage to be ready to eat (only 6 weeks left . . .)
Dreaming: about the planters John said he’d make for me in the spring and all the veggies I’m going to plant. Salsa all day, every day!
Liking: that we’ve been puppy-accident-free for a couple weeks now (knock on wood)
Wondering: why macarons are so dang hard to master
Loving: that John spent Saturday afternoon putting up Christmas lights on our house while I was at a bridal shower (and I didn’t even have to ask him to)
Hoping: to finish up my shopping before Christmas Eve this year
Marveling: that my sister will be home from her mission in London in 3 months
Needing: gingerbread cookies. How is it that my very favorite cookie has to come around just once a year?
Smelling: fresh Christmas tree + cinnamon wall plug-in
Wearing: scarves! boots! aka all the good stuff
Noticing: that my kitchen floor needs to be mopped tonight to get rid of wet puppy paw prints
Thinking: it’s about time we headed over to Tsunami again for sushi (a throw-back to my last taking stock post because I’m still thinking it)
Feeling: tired. Turns out those early-morning fitness classes I was going to just try out for a month (last spring) are hard to quit
Bookmarking: my favorite bathrooms. I’m hoping marble tile is in our master bathroom’s future

Can you tell lists are my favorite?

taking stock

I’ve seen this on a few different blogs and loved it. I also modified it and got rid of a few of the prompts. . . because if I have to spend more than 5 seconds thinking about the answer it’s way too much work.

barbecue Making: a mental note to unclog the drain in our sink asap (aka adding one more thing to the honey-do list)
Cooking: Johns favorite pasta e fagioli knock-off from a certain not-so-authentic Italian restaurant. Oh and garlic bread because that’s his love language
Drinking: water. Because what else do I ever drink? #pickiestdrinker
Reading: Northanger Abbey. Mostly because I was an English major and never picked it up in college. Oh the guilt
Wanting: my husband to come to bed (but hes helping my dad and brother roll up the carpet in our flooded basement so I guess I shouldnt complain)
Looking: at my new favorite painting we picked up in Guatemala
Wishing: that 4:45 AM didnt come so early. You’re the worst, fitness class
Enjoying: our final season of White Collar
Waiting: for my blueberries growing in the backyard to ripen (and trying to beat the birds to them)
Liking: that I can spot crawdads now when I walk around the lake
Wondering: if we’ll make it to a drive-in movie and a farmers market before fall is here. Having opposite days off is the best
Loving: the happy-13-months-of-marriage-i-love-you text I got today
Hoping: people stop with the fireworks. Its two days past the 4th and the dog cant handle it anymore, dang it
Marveling: at how good my hot wheat cereal topped with sliced peaches, walnuts, and honey was this morning
Needing: more sleep
Smelling: my favorite kekemomo lemon sugar candle . . . Im pretty sure this is what heaven will smell like
Wearing: Johns basketball shorts because every item of clothing I own is in the washing machine
Noticing: what a disaster our bedroom is. Time for a deep cleaning I guess
Thinking: it’s about time we headed over to Tsunami again for sushi
Feeling: hungry. Trying to exercise the willpower to not snack at 10:30 at night . . .
Bookmarking: peach cobbler recipes for our past-their-prime peaches
Giggling: that John is convinced that all his dirty socks should be neatly rolled into pairs before he throws them in the hamper. Actually Im not giggling. I hate spending extra time unrolling them. Take note, sweetheart

What has everyone else been up to lately?
