The Weirdest Thing I've Ever Seen

This weekend, my Mom went down to storage room in our basement (really just a cement cellar) and happened to see something weird sticking out of a bag. It turns out that she was given some bulbs last year and instructed to keep them in a cool, dark place, and plant them in the spring. She forgot to plant them, though, and apparently they decided to take matters into their own hands.
I wish I had a better picture, but there really isn't even any dirt in the bag (just the clumps that were already on the bulbs). They've been sitting in the pitch-black cellar, in the cold, with no soil, and they still grew. They're sort of freaky . . . if you can't tell, they're daffodils, but they're basically albino daffodils. They're like those transparent, blind fish that live in caves. So apparently we can't grow regular flowers, but we're pretty good at growing mutant flowers.

PS I don't know what to believe anymore because obviously I've been lied to my entire life . . . plants do not need the sun to grow. Or at least daffodils don't. If you want albino daffodils, that is.
