An Applesauce Recipe

[No pictures today . . . let's face it, applesauce isn't a pretty food].

Since we got so many apples from our trip to the orchard and since we're crazy about homemade applesauce around here, I made some the other night. If you don't like store-bought applesauce, you definitely need to try homemade. I'm not a big fan of the supermarket stuff either, but homemade is amazing.

I basically use this recipe, but I alter the sugar just a bit so I'll post my version.

4-5 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
1/16 cup sugar
1-2 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes (until apples are soft). Mash with a potato masher until it's the consistency you prefer. I personally like my applesauce chunky. Taste and add more sugar/honey if necessary -- my family prefers a healthier, less sugary applesauce.
