“...The grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.”

Norman Ray Johnson
“Lieutenant Colonel”
Norman Ray Johnson, our loved and respected husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away January 23, 2015. He was born April 7, 1933 in Idaho to Louis Orlin and Irene Anderson Johnson. On February 24, 1956, Norman married Maria Helena Faria Paes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dad loved serving in the Army. He was a paratrooper, and retired after 33 years from the Special Forces as a Lieutenant Colonel. Norman was one of the first five employees at Hercules and retired after 30 years. Dad loved reading Louis L'Amour books and was noted for his beautiful tenor voice, and his great sense of humor. He was a great outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, and camping. Dad was active in the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings, including Elders Quorum President, Bishopric, and High Council. He was also a great Scouter and completed Wood Badge. Most of all, Dad loved his family and we love him.
Survivors include the love of his life Maria Helena; children, Debora (Lenn) Riddle, Julie (Dan) Coles, Nolan (Connie), Wendy (Larry) Kinder; 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; brother, Orlin (Dolores); sister, Esther Lewis. Norman was preceded in death by an infant son and infant twins; also two brothers.
